My name is Esther, and I’m a knit-a-holic. I’ve been making hats, gloves, scarves, jumpers and lots of bits for babies for a long time now, and have set myself a challenge: to knit and write my way around Britain using heritage patterns and British wool. I also want to learn more about Britain’s long love affair with the woolly stuff – why does the Speaker in the House of Lords sit on a woolsack, and why are so many pubs called The Wool Pack? I’ll be chronicling my journey on this blog as I knit my way from Fair Isle to Dover, and Whitby to Whitehaven, reviewing books and writing articles as I go.
I am also a freelance writer and literary project manager. If you’re interested in finding out more about my work with all things wordy, hop over to https://estherphoeberutter.wordpress.com/. I am represented by literary agent Jenny Brown of Jenny Brown Associates and work for organisations including UNESCO Edinburgh City of Literature Trust and the University of St Andrews.
